TSH receptor antibodies are specialized proteins that attach to the thyroid gland’s TSH receptors. This in turn then stimulates the thyroid gland to produce excess amounts of thyroid hormones.
This test is useful in the diagnosis of Grave's disease which is one of the most common type of hyperthyroidism. The test may also be used to assess the response to the treatment.

How is the blood sample taken?
To take the blood sample, a tourniquet (elastic) band is placed tightly on the upper arm. The patient is then asked to make a fist.
