This test measures the percentage of red blood cells in the blood which carry oxygen to all parts of the body. It also helps diagnose certain conditions which are caused due to too many or few red blood cells such as anemia.
In adults, normal levels for men range from 41%-50%. For women, the normal range is slightly lower 36%-44%. Below normal range usually indicates anemia.
One can lower hematocirt levels by avoiding iron supplements and excessive consumption of alcohol. Instead one should stay hydrated and take bran daily to keep hematocit levels in check.
It is slighty low.
