Yes, children with sickle cell can swim but in temperrature controlled pools only. They should avoid normal pools as moving from hot to cold water may cause pain crisis and blockages which is harmful for people with sickle cell anemia.
Sickle cell carrier are people those who inherit sickle cell gene and one normal gene. They usually pass on their sickle cell gene to their baby. This passing on makes them a sickle cell carrier.
The only way to find out if you are the carrier of sickle cell anemia is to get a simple blood test done. The blood test will tell you whether you have sickle cell gene or not.
The symptoms of sickle cell anemia comprises of delayed growth, swelling on hands and feet, episodic pain, frequent infections and vision problems.
Both are diffrent while leukemia (blood cancer) is a type of cancer which involves uncontrolled cell division. On the contrary, sickle cell anemia is an abnormality in red blood cells. (due to lack of red blood cells).
